Injured by an Airbag?

We all expect that airbags in our cars will help protect us in an accident. We expect that they will not deploy until there is an accident and then will deploy at the moment of impact to cushion us from nay impact. Nevertheless there have been reports of defects. In fact there has been product recalls on one major brand. If you have suffered from an airbag injury, you are urged to contact a product liability attorney.

Malfunctioning Airbags

Airbags have been known to malfunction in the following ways:

  • Airbag deploys too soon. This can jar the driver and cause him to lose control of the vehicle.
  • Airbag opens up when there is no accident: This again can startle the driver, obscure his vision and cause an accident.
  • Airbag fails to deploy at all: Faulty wiring can cause an air bag to open up. This leaves the driver with only the seat belt to product him. He can go into the steering wheel and be injured. For this defect in fact Volvo has ordered a product recall of several models.
  • Airbags injure short people: The airbag is designed for people from 5'8" to 5'10." Shorter people have been injured in the eyeball as the bag expands.

We aggressively represent clients who have been injured by malfunctioning airbags. When we take on a case we interview the client to discover what happened in the accident. We then call in airbag experts to analyze what went wrong and who was responsible. We verify that it has not been tampered with since the manufacturer delivered it. We then fire suit for damages. Our reputation for advocacy in the courtroom persuades many manufacturers to readily agree to a fair settlement. Those who will not be reasonable, we are pleased to take to court to seek maximum compensation for our client.
