Todson Recalls Bicycle Child Carrier Seats Due to Defect

Todson Recalls Bicycle Child Carrier Seats Due to Defect

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), in conjunction with importer, Todson, Inc., of Massachusetts, announced recently a product recall of the following consumer product:

Topeak Babyseat™ II Bicycle Carrier Seats

There are currently an estimated 40,000 units in distribution. The product defect associated with this recall is that a child can place his or her fingers in the opening at the grab bar's hinge mechanism. When the consumer lifts the grab bar to remove the child from the seat, the child's fingers can be caught within the hinge mechanism, which poses a laceration and fingertip amputation hazard to innocent children.

Todson has so far received two (2) such reports of incidents including near amputations and a crushed finger.

This product recall involves specifically the Topeak Babyseat II bicycle carrier seats with model numbers TCS2100, TCS2101 and TCS2102. Model numbers are printed on the product's packaging. The gray, plastic Babyseats were sold in three styles: Babyseat, Babyseat with disc brake compatible rack and Babyseat with non-disc brake compatible rack. The racks are used to mount the seat to the bicycle.

The firm reminds everyone to look out for the most vulnerable consumers and product users in any society - children.
