Portable Electric Heater Recall

Portable Electric Heater Recall

On January 12, 2012, the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission formally announced that Kaz USA instituted a recall of its Honeywell Portable Electric Heaters Due to Burn Hazards.

Consumers should stop using recalled products ass soon as possible and bear in mind that it is illegal to sell or attempt to sell a consumer product which has been recalled.

Kaz USA Inc., of Southborough, Massachusetts and manufactured by Ningbo Honecho Industry Co., Ltd., a Chinese company.

The product defect associated with these portable heaters are associated with its internal housing, inclusive of its fan, heating elements and circuitry, which can suddenly detach and pose a burn hazard to consumers.

This product recall involves Honeywell Surround Select Series portable electric heaters with model numbers designated as follows: HZ-420, HZ-430, and HZ-440; and five-digit date codes that have "11" as the last two digits.

The heaters are white or black and cylindrical in shape with handle on the top of the unit. The model name “Honeywell” and/or “Surround Heat” are printed on the fronts of these heaters, which were sold at retail at Best Buy, Meijer and Walmart stores nationwide from July 2011 through December 2011.
