Big Lots Space Heater Recall

The product defect attorneys at Shoop | A Professional Law Corporation remind the public of a recent product recall, instituted by the Consumer Product Safety Commission ("CPSC"), in conjunction with Big Lots, of Columbus Ohio.

This voluntary recall involves following consumer product:

Portable Space Heater and Portable Oscillating Space Heater

Purchasers and the general public should immediately cease using recalled products and bear in mind that it is, of course, illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.

There are approximately 70,500 Big Lots Portable Space Heaters and Portable Oscillating Space Heaters in distribution. The product defect associated with these space heaters and portable ceramic heaters involves the unit overheating and melting which, in turn, poses a fire and/or an electric shock hazard.

Big Lots is in receipt of several reports of these products overheating and melting as described above. The product recall involves 2 models of the Climate Keeper ceramic heaters. Each of these various models has a fan, with two dials directly on its top, coupled with a mesh panel made of wire which reads, "Climate Keeper," and a label on the bottom with the model number and ETL 3130679.

The Model Number FH-107A has a grey housing.

Model #PTC-902T is an oscillating heater with silver-grey plastic housing, a molded handle on top of the heater and a small extra button between the two dials which controls the oscillation. These various units were sold exclusively at Big Lots stores (nationwide) and were manufactured in China.
