CPSC Crib Tents and Play Yard Tents Recalled Due to Strangulation Hazard

The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued a statement recalling the Tots in Mind Crib Tents. These crib tents and play tents are not to be sold any longer and anyone who owns one of these products is urged to immediately return it. There has been at least one report of a wrongful death and one report of a traumatic brain injury caused by these dangerous products. The hazards that were discovered regarding these products was that the child could become trapped or even be strangled. Merely attempting to repair the play tents or crib tents is not adequate and parents have been told to stop using them straightaway.

Since January 2007, the CPSC has received at least 27 reports of problems with these products, but there could have been many more that were not reported. One victim suffered from a traumatic brain injury and a 12-year-old boy died after he was trapped between two rails of the play tent. This shows that these products are not only dangerous to infants and small children, but to anyone who uses them. Some of the stores which sold these products are Wal-Mart, Burlington Coat Factory, and Bed Bath & Beyond. It could also be found for sale on several online stores.
