Sharper Image has instituted this product recall of USB wall chargers, of which approximately 80,000 such units are currently in distribution in the continental United Sates. The importer of these units is Atomi, of New York, N.Y. Atomi recalls these various units due to associated burn and fire hazards in conjunction with the audited States Consumer Product Safety Commission ("CPSC").

The product defect associated with these chargers involves their potential and predisposition to overheat and smoke, posing obvious burn and fire-related hazards to purchasers.

Sharper Image and Atomi are already in receipt of approximately thirteen such reports of these units smoking and overheating, as well as producing acrid smells.

This wall charger product recall involves Sharper Image USB chargers having model number and unit designations TSI202 and TSI260, which are used principally to recharge electronic items via USB connection. These include various MP3 players as well as other such electronic devices. These various chargers are comprised of black plastic, with measurements roughly equivalent to 2 ½ inches x 1 ½ inches wide. "The Sharper Image" can be found printed atop these chargers. The model number is printed at the bottom of these units.
