This recall is being initiated in conjunction and cooperation with the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). Consumers are advised that they should immediately cease the use of this recalled product unless and until otherwise instructed and additionally bear in mind that it is a federal offense to resell or otherwise attempt to resell a recalled, consumer product.
The recall date for the Sparrow Cribs is July 22, 2014, and has been indexed by CPSC as Recall number: 14-236. The Ouef Sparrow cribs are additionally sold in the colors of grey, walnut and birch.
The product defect associated with these various, Sparrow Cribs involves the slats of the unit, as the upper rail has a propensity to detach from the cribs which, in turn, poses an unacceptable risk of entrapment and therefore constitutes and poses an entrapment hazard to children. Consumers are encouraged to report any and all incidents involving these Sparrow Cribs to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission.
There are currently an estimated 14,000 such units currently in distribution within the continental United States and for product identification purposes, the subject recall involves four (4) distinct models of the Sparrow Cribs, which were all sold in the various colors noted above. They were sold at retail and manufactured within the time periods of July 2007 through January 2014 and each contain one of the corresponding model numbers noted below:
The date of manufacture appears within the format of MM-YYYY, and the various model numbers can be found on the labels attached to the crib's mattress support base.
Ouef is already in receipt of not less than four (4) reports of incidents / injuries from the field involving top-rail detachments from the crib. These units were sold at various, independent juvenile retail stores nationally and also online for price point of approximately $800.
These cribs were imported by Oeuf LLC, of Brooklyn, New York and manufactured in Latvia.
