A Risk Of Overdose
The issue with these syrups is not with the medication itself, but instead with the labeling on the packaging. The dosing cups included with the affected batches do not properly represent the recommended dose for the medication, creating the potential for an accidental overdose.
An overdose may result a number of side effects, including:
- Hyper excitability
- Nausea and vomiting
- Rapid eye movements
- Changes in muscle reflexes
- Respiratory depression
The Affected Batches
The batches affected by the recall are carried in at least 9 stores, and are all sold under the store-brand name. The affected products are as follows:
Guaifenesin Grape Liquid (4 oz.)
Guaifenesin DM Cherry Liquid (4 oz.)
5LK0528, 5LK0630, 5LK0779

While Perrigo has acted responsibly in voluntarily recalling these products, many other pharmaceutical manufacturers are not so quick to act. If you or a loved one has suffered due to a defective or poorly labeled medication, call our firm today.
At Shoop | A Professional Law Corporation, our Los Angeles product liability lawyers are dedicated to pursuing justice on behalf of injury victims and their families. We believe that when a manufacturer prioritizes profits over people, it is important to hold them accountable for the damage they cause.
