Recall of Rock ‘n Play Sleepers Due to Infant Deaths

4.7 million Rock ‘n Play Sleepers for babies have been recalled again due to infant deaths. The recall includes all models of the sleepers. Tragically, the reason for the recall is due to numerous infant deaths that have occurred when infants were placed on their backs in the Rock ‘n Play Sleepers and then rolled to their stomachs or sides. Some instances involved unrestrained infants in the sleepers.

The recall involves approximately 4.7 million Rock ‘n Play Sleepers. There was an original recall of the sleepers in April 12, 2019.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has advised that consumers should immediately stop using the Rock ‘n Play Sleepers. The CPSC further advised that it is against the law to sell or otherwise supply these sleepers as they have been recalled.

The Rock ‘n Play Sleepers were originally recalled on April 12, 2019. At that time, over 30 deaths had been reported as a result of infants rolling from their back to their stomachs while in the Rock ‘n Play Sleepers.

Following the April 2019 recall, about 70 more fatalities were reported, at least eight of the fatalities occurred after the first April 2019 recall. Devastatingly, about 100 deaths have resulted while babies were in the Rock ‘n Play Sleepers.

According to Fisher-Price, it was unable to determine the conditions resulting in some of the fatalities or that a Rock ‘n Play Sleeper was involved.

The Rock ‘n Play Sleepers are sold throughout the country, including stores such as Walmart and Target. The sleepers were also available online at Amazon from 2009 to 2019. The product was priced between $40 and $149.

Fisher-Price imported the product. The product was manufactured in China. The recall number is 23-088.
