Recall of Bicycles Due to the Risk of Falls

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) recently advised of the recall by Pacific Cycle of bicycles sold by Target. The recalled bicycles are:

1.  Pacific Kids’ Igniter bicycle, which has the word “Igniter” on it and is red with white and black accent colors; and

2. Pacific Bubble Pop 20-inch bicycle, which has the words “Bubble Pop” on the bike and is pink with black and blue accent colors.

The model numbers for the bikes can be found on the tube for the seat and are 201230TG and 201231TG. The recall number is 23-077.

The bicycles were recalled due to the risk of falling from the bikes. The hazard involves the loosening of the bike’s handlebar while the bike is being used, which can result in falling from the bikes. The recall involves approximately 147,000 bikes.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission has indicated that consumers should no longer ride either type of the bicycles. A repair kit with instructions may be available from Pacific Cycle.

Injuries have been reported due to the loosening of the handlebars on the bikes. The injuries include bruises and abrasions.

The bikes were sold by Target stores across the country and online through Target at www.target.com. The timeframe for the sale of the bicycles was from July 2020 to September 2022. The bikes were priced at approximately $140. They were imported by Pacific Cycle, Inc., of Madison, Wisconsin.
